Property & Construction Project Management
Gibfield Park, Atherton
This project involved the site wide remediation over 400 acres in Atherton near Wigan. Phase 1 of the project for which we acted as Project Managers involved the relocation of nearly 1,000,000m3 of coal waste to restore a redundant open cast mine into a wood land park, reclamation and remediation including a site wide cut and fill, treatment of mineworkings, Archaeological Excavations, Newt clearance, infrastructure drainage and full validation reporting for a new housing estate for 470 homes.
New highway works included the construction of a new major roundabout interchange for the housing development and a smaller roundabout interchange for the commencement of a new business park.
Due to the high environmental nature of this project extensive negotiations and discussions took place through the course of the works with the Environment Agency, Wigan Planning Authority, NHBC and DEFRA.
